Duties and responsibilities
  • Prepare classic and speciality coffees and beverages
  • Interact with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks
  • Assess customers needs and preferences and make recommendations
  • Mix ingredients to prepare coffees and beverages
  • Plan and present coffee bar menu
  • Check customer's identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age
  • Restock and replenish coffee inventory and supplies
  • Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations
 

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a barista
  • Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving coffees and beverages
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with bar/restaurant POS software
  • Proficiency in English is a MUST, (other spoken and written languages will be an extra asset for this position)
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep the barista area organised, stocked, safe and clean
  • Customer-oriented approach and patience
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Responsible and trustworthy
  • Strong personality, motivational and people skills
  • Barista school diploma or BS degree in Tourism, Business Administration, food safety training will be considered a MUST.
 

Working conditions

The Barista position requires a person to work in special working conditions.
 
Special working conditions cover a range of circumstances from regular evening and weekend work, shift work, working outdoors and working with challenging clients.
 
The Barista MUST be accurate, and follow the time-schedule of the bar/restaurant team.
 
Collaborate with all other departments for the best results, in the best manner, in good professionalism and good faith.
 
Inform of all the requests of any/every guest/client to your barista and bartender colleague which you work with as a pair/team at any given time at the bar.
 
The Barista is responsible for assisting and MUST ALWAYS FOLLOW the instructions of his Bar Manager which will work with as a pair/team without hesitation or second thoughts or do something that he/she thinks better
 
The Barista is responsible for the good function of all bar equipment and excellent condition of all bar tools as well as following and applying ALL H.A.C.C.P. regulations
 
The barista has to be customer-friendly and to be an opened-minded personality and must see for the satisfaction of all guests/customers, so as for them to enjoy a detailed professional coffee/bar service experience from the moment they arrive till the time they leave from the bar and must always collaborate with the other departments (kitchen, bartender, beach cashiers) at all times for optimum results.
 
Physical requirements
The Barista’s position is a physically very demanding position. You will be required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects, do repetitive tasks with one break, and be responsible for the all coffee/bar equipment, tools and all coffee/bar operations during service.
